Import Europass CV to your Resume at the Comoto Resume Manager

With our new integration to Europass it is possible to import your exisiting Resume data from the Europass standard into Comoto using the Europass XML file.

Two ways of import Europass Resume:

  1. Using the Comoto Resume Import Wizard
  2. Using the Resume list icon for importing

Both types of imports are going to use your existing Europass XML file, so you need to have that within reach, preferably existing on your Computer/USB stick, because you wil have to upload the Europass XML file to the Comoto CV Import Engine.

Europass import CV Wizard m How to Use: Import Europass CV to your ResumeUsing the Comoto Resume import Wizard

Please login to your Comoto account here, go to the menu My Resume and choose “Resume creation Wizard”.

Then you need to activate our Resume Import Wizard, where you can for time being import your existing data from LinkedIn and Europass.

Europass CV Import Wizard How to Use: Import Europass CV to your ResumeOur new and improved Resume Import Wizard now contains the ability to import from LinkedIn and from Europass.

You should choose “Import from Europass XML File”, enter the name of your new Resume in the Europass CV format, choose the language you want for this Resume and press “Next”. Europass Import CV Dialog How to Use: Import Europass CV to your Resume

A dialogue will pop-up asking you to upload your “Europass XML file”, select the Europass CV file you want to import and press “Next”.

Your existing data from the Resume in the Europass CV format which just have been uploaded will be converted into the Comoto Resume standard and this would finalize the job of importing the Resume in the Europass CV format. This can be done within a minute, so you are saving a lot of time by doing it in this way.

The created Resume will be a new Resume on your Resume list and will not change existing Resume’s within Comoto. The Resume creation wizard can only be used to create a new Resume not to update an existing Resume, if you want to update or overwrite an existing Resume in the Europass CV format you should use the Resume List import feature as described below.

Using the CV List for importing

If you want to import into an existing Resume or update an existing Resume you should login to Comoto as described above, and then choose “My Resume” to see you existing list of Resume.

Europass CV List import fea How to Use: Import Europass CV to your ResumeYou should then find the little “Yellow Europass Star Icon” (see arrow above). By pressing this icon you choose to import a new Europass CV into this CV/Resume, by doing this you should be aware that you will overwrite/delete your existing CV/Resume with the new data. After pressing this icon you will get the same pop-up image as in the Resume Import Wizard and you should upload your Europass CV/Resume.

Tailor make the Resumes to the job you want – and get it!

Tailor make the Resumes to the job you want – and get it!

Your Resume is probably the most important part of your application to get the job of your dreams. The cover letter will be the place where you convince the recruiter/headhunter/company to read on, and read your entire Resume.

A very good idea will be to Tailor make every job application with a Tailor made Resume, if you want the job of your dreams, the employer should also read a “dream of a Resume”.

The basic principle of your Resumes is to Tailor make it to the job:

  • Be sure to cover the most important job skills, qualifications, and experience in your Resume.
  • Be certain that most parts of your Resume relates to the job you apply for.
  • Use the same skills, experience, and qualifications description as in the job ad.
  • Ensure that your previous experience is clearly and relevant to the job application.

This is a lot easier to do when using Comoto, you can have several Resumes in the system and specialize them to the current application.

You have the basic material available from your basic Resume (maybe your LinkedIn profile), and then you should just adapt that material to the wishes to you dream job.

An Outline of the basics in a Resume is seen below:

Professional Summary

The prof. summary is the part where you describe your overall motivation. Here you should describe that the current job would fit into your career choice. This is should show the employer that this job is the next step on your career ladder.

Skills

Skills are mostly seen as keywords in a job add; they are essential criterias that you have to have to fill this position. It is not a question if you have them all, most people don’t or just barely, but you must include all the required skills as much as possible. Highlight the skills where your expertise really supersedes the demands highlighted and mention the rest.

Work Experience

Your former work experience needs particular care and you should try to reuse some of the skills or goals explained in the job ad. Explain you experience very concise and clear, write the roles and tasks you had. Be sure to use the same wordings as in the requirements for this job.

Use several examples, and where it is possible show how your skills where developed and refined through your previous work experience. Make it extremely clear that you have gained extra expertise through your previous experience.

Achieved goals

Goals that you have achieved on top of your work experience for each job description are extremely positive, it shows that you aim for the goals the employer puts up and that you are dedicated to the relevant tasks. Try to use examples that are related to the new job application if possible.

Educations / Qualifications

A lot of job ads describe a certain set of required qualifications. You should try to provide qualifications that meet these requirements. Sometimes you have similar qualifications, try to convince them that they are good enough. Either do it by email beforehand so that you are sure that your qualifications are good enough. This also gives you the opportunity to have a talk with the employer before you send your Resume.

Your qualifications need to be direct and to the point, and if the employer describes them very details, you do the same. Make it look like you’re obviously qualified and the best choice for the job.

As described above it is not that hard to make your Resume targeted to the job your applying for. Using Comoto to do this is very easily, you have the opportunity to have several distinct Resume’s and you can change them and have as many as you like in your portfolio. You can even make them online versions, so that you can refer to a link if you talk with an interesting person.

Tailored (targeted) Resumes – use a job targeted Resume to increase the likelihood of getting the job

lg share en Tailored (targeted) Resumes use a job targeted Resume to increase the likelihood of getting the job

CustomCVsml Tailored (targeted) Resumes use a job targeted Resume to increase the likelihood of getting the jobDo you use the same Resume for every application you make – you shold not !

You want to have specialised or as we call it targeted Resume for each job you apply for and with our multiple Resumes feature you are able to do that fast and easy.

We have implemented a feature called multiple Resumes.
With this feature you can have as many CV’s as you want and notice you can choose to make them inherit or not inherit from each other (we also call this a clone). When inherited – if you change the “top” CV of a group of inherited CV they all change – smart ! (example – at the drawing above – if the you in the Michael Comoto (Renewables) CV change a date  both the German and the Danish version same date is also changed).

If you want to have another CV version that are not inherited/linked to other CV’s then make a non inherit version (we also call this a copy). It could also be a CV in another language – even smarter!

For each CV you can choose Template (and preview before you choose).

Hereby you only need change what is necessary to have tailormade CV’s for the job application you need just right now – and we have saved you a lot of time and efforts !

Notice your CV versions are all saved in your portfolio of CV’s and you can use them as you like.

The relationship between Comoto and LinkedIn

The relationship between Comoto and Linkedin

How can I talk about the relationship to a relationship database like LinkedIn or Xing or Viadeo. At Comoto we are strong believers in relationship databases for their unique purpose and big fans of LinkedIn – their services help you to build relationships and keep in contact with important people in your business.

And yes they are also perfect to build relationships with or to be seen by headhunters – remember a relationship database work perfect as a place where you can illustrate your experiences without having the problems of your current employer being annoyed for being public, as if everybody could find you in a Resume database (we will revert with more about this another day).

Ensure there is a match between your profile and your Resume – Comoto ensures this because we can create your Resume from your LinkedIn profile

We have been asked the same question many times – Is Comoto a LinkedIn hack – Comoto is not a hack, tweak or similar neither are we hacking or tweaking LinkedIn information. The Comoto technology build your curriculum vitae based on our use of the LinkedIn API. Another popular question is export to LinkedIn – unfortunately we cannot (yet) export to LinkedIn (remember to copy or paste data from Comoto is easy). By the way – we would like to launch similar features for other relationship databases like Xing and Viadeo but they dont have an API yet.

Ensure you are evaluated on your full Resume and not just your relationship profile

How many times have you been contacted by headhunters or others because they have seen what you have done in the past as described in your profile – when you should be evaluated on what you are doing now or maybe even what you want to do in the future !

That is why you need a full Resume to show and present your current and future potential – in full !

Actually you don’t need a full Resume- you need several full Resumes – pinpointed for specific job or roles – and maintain your full control over you Resume versions to ensure your privacy.

Use Comoto’s unique multiple Resume feature for that – create a Resume specific for a job or a type of jobs – or different language versions – or have a short, basic, long version of your Resume.

Target your Resume to the job you want – and get it! Comoto Resume Manager

lg share en Target your Resume to the job you want and get it! Comoto Resume Manager

Target your Resume to the job you want

Your Resume is probably the most important part of your application to get the job of your dreams. The cover letter will be the place where you convince the recruiter/headhunter/company to read on, and read your entire Resume.

A very good idea will be to target every job application with a tailor-made Resume, if you want the job of your dreams, the employer should also read a “dream of a Resume”.

The basic principle of your Resume is to target it to the job. :

  • Be sure to cover the most important job skills, qualifications, and experience in your Resume.
  • Be certain that most parts of your Resume relates to the job you apply for.
  • Use the same skills, experience, and qualifications description as in the job ad.
  • Ensure that your previous experience is clearly and relevant to the job application.

This is a lot easier to do when using Comoto, you can have several Resume in the system and specialize them to the current application.

You have the basic material available from your basic Resume(maybe your LinkedIn profile), and then you should just adapt that material to the wishes to you dream job. An Outline of the basics in a Resume is seen below:

Professional Summary

The prof. summary is the part where you describe your overall motivation. Here you should describe that the current job would fit into your career choice. This is should show the employer that this job is the next step on your career ladder.

Skills

Skills are mostly seen as keywords in a job add; they are essential criteria’s that you have to have to fill this position.

Using Comoto to do this is very easily, you have the opportunity to have several distinct Resumes and you can change them and have as many as you like in your portfolio. You can even make them online versions, so that you can refer to a link if you talk with an interesting person.

Can your Resume stand the CV and LinkedIn Buzzword test

Overused buzzword – can your Resume stand the CV and LinkedIn buzzword test

Buzzwords has been around for ages, remember the buzzword bingo game, LinkedIn has examined 85 million profiles for the most clichéd and overused phrases and has come up with the “2010 CV and LinkedIn Top 10 overused buzzwords” in LinkedIn Profiles in the USA.

1.  Extensive experience
2.  Innovative
3.  Motivated
4.  Results-oriented
5.  Dynamic
6.  Proven track record
7.  Team player
8.  Fast-paced
9.  Problem solver
10. Entrepreneurial

Can your resume stand the test of these overused words ?

Or if you don’t live in the USA:

* Dynamic – Brazil, India, Spain
* Motivated – UK
* Innovative – France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands

Remember that Comoto can help you create a fast Resume from your LinkedIn profile – and help you maintaining multiple Resumes. With our unique inheritance feature in Comoto you only need to change the wordings in one place if you have the same wording/phrases in multiple Resumes.

This makes it easier for you to avoid being ruled out in the “buzzword bingo game” by using a full Resume and not just your profile in a relationship database.

Do you need a fast Resume or the right Resume ?

CV Resume Database Do you need a fast Resume or the right Resume? Need a fast Resume now or a well considered and specific targeted for that one particular job you want! –  by the way this is what we call a Comoto Resume clone.

Seeking a new job is not just about sending the usual and standard Resume you made ages ago – most of the time it requires an evaluation and maybe a Curriculum Vitae created/build especially for that particular job opening.

Sometimes you just need a fast CV/Resume, here and now because you have been contacted by a recruiter or found a job opening through your network – with Comoto it is a matter of seconds to send one of your CV’s or Resume’s (and if you don’t have one yet you can import it from LinkedIn or Europass in less than 32 seconds our latest tests shows).

But as mentioned most of the time you have enough time to consider and prepare the optimal strategy for the application and accompanying Resume – what is important for you in the job, why are you the perfect candidate, which are the skills needed, which are the skills to emphasise – are some of the questions to ask yourself. Use an existing Comoto CV to create a clone (our word for a copy as you copy sorry clone everything – not just the text but also the structure, etc.) change and add to ensure all the considerations you have made in advance are covered – save and test several templates – which designs fits you and the situations best (if none send us your ideas) – before you pick the optimal one.
